For as long as Sarah Lee, the founder of Emmaus Road Ministries, can remember, she has had a passion to see people experience healing in their lives, ministering to people helping them connect with God and themselves in her counseling practice. Several years ago, she experienced complete burnout and resigned from her job as director of a residential home for girls coming out of sex trafficking. Burnout had been a long time coming having experienced her own trauma and wounding. As a result, she went on a healing journey of her own. But this journey was different – it introduced her to her heart. She learned that her heart mattered and how she experienced life influenced her core values and beliefs, it affected the condition of her heart. As she began to identify and engage in the broken places in her life, she was able to connect with God, herself and others on a deeper level which brought a palpable freedom to her life.
